Milpitas, CA August 25, 2003 - Fairchild Imaging employees were presented the Outstanding Supplier award from Lockheed Martin Distribution Technologies in Owego, New York for their work performed on the Wide Field Of View (WFOV) camera for the US Postal Service. The award, presented by LMCO Program Manager, Ron Fitzpatric, was in the form of a star engraved crystal punch bowl.
The Fairchild Imaging CAM8525 is the core-imaging module for the WFOV Camera System. The WFOV Camera System improves the read rate of the POSTNET bar codes so that fewer items are rejected and more letters can be sorted automatically. Fairchild Imaging TDI CCD technology improves signal to noise and detection capability by several orders of magnitude compared with previous line scan camera systems based on linear CCDs.
Over 10,000 of the CAM8525 systems were delivered over an 18-month period. These camera systems will be installed in over 1600 locations throughout the United States.
